Obituary of Thomas W. Burns

Thomas W. Burns, 79, of Bovina passed away of natural causes on May 4, 2025.

Born on February 9, 1946 in Delhi, Tom was the son of the late James L. & Helen (Bowen) Burns. He was born into a dairy farming family in Bovina. After leaving school in 1963 he began his own herd of dairy cows entering operations with his father. The farm remains in the family and continues operation for the harvesting of hay and the raising of livestock.

While the operation of the farm demanded and consumed the majority of Tom’s time his immeasurable energy squeezed in time for his other passions, snowmobiling and hunting whether it be racoons, deer or turkey.

In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his brother James E. Burns.

Tom is survived by his wife: Joan (Schultz); son: Wayne and daughter-in-law Roxanne (Bliss) Burns of Bovina and their children Mary-Elizabeth and James-Randell Burns; daughter: Faith Burns of Delhi and her children John and Farrah Wright and Henry Frandsen; and daughter: Jody (Paul) Woodrow of Milford and their children Madison Martin and Quincey Woodrow; he is also survived by his sister: Elizabeth Aikens of Oneonta; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 4-7PM on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at MacArthur Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Delhi.  Interment will be held at a later date.
