Obituary of Ray Moser
Ray Moser, 72, of Stamford, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in his home on April 28, 2025.Above all, Ray was a family man. His greatest titles included: husband, dad, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.
Ray was born on April 19, 1953 in McKeesport, PA to LaVerne and Raymond Moser. Ray attended California State College of Pennsylvania. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and was an active member of his fraternity, Pi Triton. This is where he met many of his lifelong friends who he loved. They shared many fishing trips and adventures over the last 50+ years. This is also where he met the love of his life and wife of nearly 43 years, Ellen. Upon Ellen’s graduation they married on May 29th, 1982 in a small ceremony in PA. Young and carefree, they headed west to Colorado and eventually Nevada. Ray had many jobs during their time out west, including: ski technician, butcher, construction worker, and store manager.
In 1986 Ray and his young family traveled back East and settled in Stamford, NY where he called home for the last 39 years. He began his career at Graham Labs as one of the original employees and retired as a supervisor in what is now known as Mallinckrodt. With Ellen by his side, he helped raise his three children: Meghann, Ryan, and Caitlin. They were his whole world. He spent countless hours helping with school projects, traveling to every sporting event, and fixing anything with a creative solution. Anything they needed, he was there for them in a heartbeat.
Ray had many hobbies and was a jack-of-all trades. He was an avid lover of bird watching and even had a carefully confirmed life list of birds he had seen. Walking around his yard, you can’t help but notice all the bird feeders and the many birds who frequent them. He regularly walked the rail trails outside of town with his four-legged canine companion, Mabel. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking, remodeling, and later discovered his love of landscape painting. In his retirement years he and Ellen spent winters in Oak Hill, Florida. He loved walking the beaches, watching the birds, and viewing the sunrises and sunsets. He knew any sort of trivia and would amaze his family with his knowledge on a daily basis.
Ray is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ellen and his children: Meghann Moser, Ryan (McKinley) Moser, and Caitlin Moser. He is also survived by his three siblings: Mardell Cramer, Randy Moser, and Janet Campbell. Many of his cherished moments in his last few years were spent with his grandchildren, Levi and Myles Moser. He adored being a Grandpa. He also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Calling hours will be held from 3:00 - 6:00 PM on Friday, May 9, 2025 at MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive Stamford, NY 12167, followed by a prayer service at the funeral home.
