
Obituary of Richard Brian Wanser
Richard Brian Wanser, 55, of Davenport, passed away Friday, April 11, 2025, at Bassett Medical Center following a lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis.
Born on April 9, 1970, in Patchogue, NY, Richie was the son of Richard and Elizabeth Jane (Pressgrove) Wanser.
He received his certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at AO Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta until illness forced his early retirement.
Richie enjoyed working with electronics and was gifted in installing audio systems. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing often with his close friend and neighbor, Paul Merwin. In his free time, he enjoyed social media and watching TV. Richie also liked spending time with his feline companions, Groucho and Allie.
He had a love for the Lord and as Richie’s illness progressed, he looked forward to seeing him.
Richie was predeceased by an infant brother: John Wanser; and his loving mother: Elizabeth Jane Wanser.
He is survived by his father: Richard (Shirley) Wanser of Davenport; sister: Carrie (Steve O’Sullivan) Wikoff of Davenport; nieces and nephews: Jordan (Zach) Port of Fonda, Tarah (Mitchell) Fisher of Davenport, Alexis Wikoff of Davenport and Zachary Wikoff of Davenport; along with extended family and many friends.
A celebration of Richie’s life is being planned and will be announced soon.
