Obituary of Catherine Ann Wargo

Catherine Ann Zimmerman Wargo,100 yrs old, passed away peacefully at Robinson's Terrace in Stamford NY., on March 6, 2025.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a devoted wife. She had a love for life and everyone around her. She enjoyed drinking coffee with friends and family and enjoyed making and sharing her fudge. Her favorite candy were mints.

Catherine was born in Lorain, Ohio on September 4, 1924. Her parents were May and John Zimmerman. She graduated high school in Lorain OH.

She married Joseph Wargo and had 5 children. They moved to Vermont and had 4 more children. Her husband Joeseph passed away 1997. She lived in Groton NY from 1998-2020. In 2020 she moved to Robert and Mary Wargo's home in Eagle Bridge until 2023 when she moved to Robinson Terrace.

Besides her parents and husband, she is predeceased by 4 siblings and 1 son. Thomas Zimmerman, Lorain OH., Father Damian Ralph Zimmerman NM. , Dorthy Zimmerman Flaherity Lorain OH., Sister Gladys Zimmerman Syracuse NY., and son Dr. Timothy Wargo of Waitsfield VT.

Catherine is survived by 1 sibling and 8 children. Sister Alma Zimmerman Ensign Avon Lake OH., Mari Roddy Fairfax VT, Catherine Wargo Waitsfield VT., Maia Matisz, Robert Wargo Eagle Bridge NY., Jennifer Pugh Santee CA., Tess Brewer, Denver NY., Suzanne Wargo Newton MA., Julienne Cosgrave Locke, NY.. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

She will be remembered at a Catholic Mass at April 3rd at 10 a.m. at Assumption Church 812 N. Salina St. Syracuse NY. Burial to follow at Assumption Cemetary 2401 Court St. Syracuse NY. Donations can be made to Franciscan Villa 6900 Buckley Rd. Syracuse, NY 13212.
