Obituary of Susanna Marie Kenefick

Susanna Marie (Coppersmith)(Dorst) Kenefick, 67, of Meredith, NY, passed away on February 26, 2025. 

Born December 19, 1957, in Hempstead, NY, Susanna dedicated her life to education and family. She earned a bachelor's degree in education and went on to inspire countless students as a science teacher. Her passion for learning and curiosity about the world extended beyond the classroom, shaping both her professional and personal life. 

Susanna was deeply devoted to her family. She is survived by her loving husband, William Kenefick; her son, Brian Coppersmith (Patricia); her daughter, Kathleen Coppersmith; and her cherished granddaughters, Erin Coppersmith and Emma Kenefick. She also leaves behind many other grandchildren and extended family members. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Frances (Lang) Dorst; her brother, Richard Dorst; and her first husband, Robert Coppersmith. 

A woman of deep faith, Susanna was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church. Her love for cooking brought joy to those around her—she was known for preparing incredible meals that gathered family and friends together. She also had a special fondness for birds and found great joy in traveling to new places, embracing the beauty of the world with an adventurous spirit. Above all else, she loved taking care of her family and creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love. 

A funeral service will be held on March 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 565 Andes Rd., Delhi, New York, 13753, a calling hour will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Family and friends are invited to gather at the family home following the service to celebrate Susanna’s life and share memories together. 

Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
