Obituary of Nora Skovsende Cole

Nora Skovsende Cole, 98, of Andes passed away February 26, 2025, at Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville.

Born on February 6, 1927 in Denmark, Nora was the daughter of late Hans and Nina Skovsende.

She emigrated to the United States with her parents as a young child where they were met by sponsors in NYC.

Nora was married to Frederick (Olin) Cole in 1946 until his passing in 1999.  They lived in Bovina and later to Andes, where the couple operated the family dairy farm.

She was an avid gardener and enjoyed upholstery which was self-taught. Nora enjoyed morning coffee in Andes and volunteering at the Andes Historical Society Thrift Shop and in the afternoons if the flag was out on her porch, it meant that coffee was on for friends and family.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers: Niels “Mike” Skovsende and Viggo “Joe” and wife, Elsie Skovsende.

Nora is survived by a son: Harold (Linda) Cole of Andes; grandson: Jason (Sarah) Cole of Wilmington NC;  sister-in-law: Barbara Skovsende; along with several nieces and nephews.

Burial and graveside services will be held in the spring at Andes Cemetery.
