Obituary of Louise A. Kosier

Louise A. Kosier, 97, of Hobart, passed away late Tuesday evening, February 18, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born on December 5, 1927, in Hobart, Louise was the daughter of the late Freeman and Ida (Collins) Temple.

Louise worked as a cook at Hobart School and then went to work as the cook at South Kortright Central School for over 20 years until her retirement.

She was married to Anthony T. Kosier on April 19, 1947, a union that lasted nearly 30 years until his passing in 1976.

Louise enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cooking (grandma’s mac and cheese was always a favorite), and she could often be found on her front porch with her sister Beatrice Palmer watching people pass by or waiting for a hummingbird to visit. Louise also did wallpapering with her mother “Idie” and was a housekeeper for many in Hobart.

Besides her parents and husband, Louise was predeceased by her daughter: Margaret L. Adsit in 2010, along with her siblings: Beatrice, Martin and Leslie.

She is survived by her children: Bonnie (John) Baranowski of Oneonta, Tonya (Sal) Coletti of Florida and Anthony “Ted” (Joyce) Kosier of Hobart; grandchildren: Christine, Joseph, Nicole, Ashley, Haley, Rebecca and Jennifer; great grandchildren: Kendall, Landon, Kayla, Madison, William, Isabella, Alonzo and Samson; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Louise’s request there will be no calling hours, a graveside service will be held at Locust Hill Cemetery in the spring.

The Kosier family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Lousie’s daughter-in-law, Joyce, for all the loving care she provided.
