Obituary of Ronald C. Shipman

Ronald C. Shipman, 83 of Davenport, NY passed away at his home in Woodstock, GA on March 20, 2021.

Born on June 26, 1937 in Somerville, NJ, Ronald was the son of the late Charles Goodrich and Lucy Payne Shipman.  He lived in Hunterton County, NJ until enlisting in the US Air Force in 1956.  He served in the Philippines, England and several bases in and outside the US as an Outside Wire and Antenna Systems Specialist until his honorable discharge in 1964.

Ronald was married to Harriet Dent on July 17, 1960.  The couple lived in Stamford for 35 years, where Ron operated a Texaco Station and had an auto towing and snow plowing business.

While in Stamford, Ron was active in the Kiwanis, Working Lodge #554 F&A Masons in Jefferson and the American Legion Post #1379, where he was past commander.

Family was everything to Ron, he cherished his children and grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Ronald was predeceased by his brothers: Donald and Richard.

He is survived by his wife: Harriet Shipman; children: Robert (Barbara) Shipman and Laura (Thomas Boeher) Shipman; grandchildren: Megan Shipman, Michaela (Lucas Carlson) Shipman, Daniel (Beth) Boeher and Dana Boeher; special cousins: Patricia Plaia, Karen DeNyse, Betty Trapanese and Dennis Denyse.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from Noon to 2PM on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, where a funeral service will be held at 2PM. Burial with full military honors will follow at Stamford Cemetery.  Ron’s family would like to invite everyone to the Stamford American Legion, 65721 State Route 10, Stamford for a time to reminisce. Masks and social distancing will be required for all who attend the services.
