Obituary of Elizabeth "Bette" Rosa Braymer

DELHI-Elizabeth (Bette) Rosa Braymer, 86, died at home on February 22, 2021. She was born March 19, 1934 in Delhi, New York, the daughter of Joseph and Gladys (Eignor) Rosa.

Betty graduated from Delaware Academy and Central School, Class of 1952. Following high school graduation, Bette graduated from Business School. She married John Alfred Braymer in 1955 and they settled in Delhi and raised five daughters.

Bette worked in the Business Office of O’Connor Hospital. She left O’Connor Hospital when she purchased The Delhi Specialty Shop and later purchased the Delhi Bootery. She operated both businesses until she retired.

Bette loved picking blueberries and was fondly called “Bette Big Berry” because of her constant hunt for the biggest berries. She enjoyed gardening and watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s sporting event. John and Bette enjoyed golfing daily at the Delhi Golf Course and they engaged daily in a friendly game of Cribbage and they found great joy and solace in their membership at the First Presbyterian Church.

Bette was predeceased by her husband, John, her grandson, Brandon Rowlands, her brother, Fayal Rosa, and her sister, Vivian Carpenter. Surviving are two brothers, Hugh and Joseph Rosa, five daughters and their husbands – Lori and Al Reed, Sue and Leland Stein, Amy and Tom Engels, Sylvia and Phil Rowlands and Jan and Doug Sohns - 12 grandchildren and 22.5 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Jessica Raber, Connie Burns, Rachelle Thompson, Kelly Liddle, Elodie Reed, and others who filled in, for their loving care of Betty that allowed her to remain in her home. Bette was surrounded by her family to the end.

Helios Care -297 River Street, S Service Rd, Suite #1, Oneonta, NY 13820, - to support the annual Hospice Christmas Tree displayed in the Village of Delhi Gazebo. Betty and John donated the Hospice Christmas Tree for many years.

Brandon’s House - Brianna Brennan, 997 Delaware Avenue, Delmar, NY 12054 - a support service for American Citizens facing legal challenges in foreign countries.
