Obituary of Shirley J. Loucks
Shirley J. Loucks, 78, of Bloomville, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.
Born in 1942 in Gilboa, Shirley was the daughter of the late Elsie Stevens and Melvin Mattice.
Shirley worked at Grand Union in both Delhi and Stamford for over 30 years.
She touched many lives. Shirley enjoyed baking and was well known for her Christmas cookie platters. She enjoyed going to yard sales and was never one turn down a shopping and/or lunch date with her daughters, sisters, or nieces. Shirley was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. She took pride in her home and was always welcoming to anyone who came to visit. She also liked family gatherings, playing cards and dominos. Her greatest passion was her family, they were the most important thing in her life and she will be missed by all.
Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by sons: Richard H. Loucks, Jr. and Russell A. Loucks; her brothers: Kenneth Mattice and James Mattice; and her sister: Sandra Martin.
Survived by her husband: Richard H. Loucks, Sr.; daughters: Debbie Martin and Karen Hall-Green; grandchildren: Mathew Speece (Shelley), Chad Loucks (Bridget), Travis Loucks (Brittany), Ryan Loucks, Brielle Loucks, Cheslea Campbell (Ryan), Schuyler Speece, Taylor Loucks, Morgan Loucks, and Brandon Hall; sisters Ronda Frazee (Rick) and Nancy Rice (John); her brother Kenneth Rockwell (Sandy); her aunt: Patty Mattice; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 4-7PM on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
