Obituary of Bonnie G. Radley
Bonnie G. Radley, 66 of Delancey, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, following a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in 1954 in Albany, Bonnie was the daughter of the late Ernest “Red” and Greta (Gade) Radley. Bonnie was born with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and was one of the first infants to survive the corrective surgery.
Bonnie spent many wonderful years growing up on the Radley family dairy farm located between Treadwell and Delhi. She graduated from Delaware Academy in 1972 and then attended Southern Oregon University. It was during her college years that she began to pursue her passion for travel. She travelled throughout Europe, spent several years teaching English in Japan and also lived and worked on a kibbutz in Israel. She finally landed back in Delaware County where she would meet the love of her life, John Murray Eberhard. The couple married in March 2011 and were inseparable until John’s untimely passing on January 6, 2018.
Bonnie worked for the Delaware County Office for the Aging (OFA) for over 35 years as Coordinator of Aging Services. While at OFA, Bonnie worked on a variety of programs including the Senior Dining Program and the Senior Transportation Program. She was also integral in starting the Tai Chi for Arthritis Program. Bonnie was a dedicated staff member, and she thoroughly enjoyed her work and put her heart and soul into each and every program she worked on. In 2009 Bonnie assisted with the development of a local program that became the 4C Camp for Adults held annually at Camp Shankitunk.
Bonnie was independent, inquisitive, thoughtful and thoroughly enjoyed people from all walks of life. She had a big heart and enjoyed creating themed gifts and packages for her many family members and friends and sharing special occasions with them. Bonnie enjoyed cultural events including music and live shows. She was a beloved wife, daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, cousin, friend and coworker. She will be deeply missed by all.
Bonnie is survived by her sisters: Sharon (Mark) Shear of Clifton Park, Martha (Walt) Kemp of Guilderland and Karen Radley of Schenectady; niece and nephews: Sayra, Andrew and Brendan, and many step nieces and nephews; mother-in-law: Elly Eberhard of Sun City Center, FL; sisters and brother-in-laws: Gini Fiedler of Oakland, ME, Karen (Jim) Dougherty of Sicklerville, NJ, and Doug Eberhard of Lancaster; and, aunts, uncle and cousins.
Bonnie’s family would like to thank all the staff of the Cancer Care Unit at Bassett Hospital, and extend a special thank you to Bonnie’s friend, Heather Barreto.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bonnie’s name to 4C Camp for Adults (checks made payable to CCE of Delaware County), PO Box 411, Delhi, NY 13753
