Obituary of John Raba

John Raba, age 70, died Thursday, September 10, 2020 from chronic health issues.

John was born January 26, 1950 in Elizabeth, NJ, the son of the late Marguerite and Charles Raba.

He was the second oldest of four brothers. Growing up he enjoyed working on old cars and spending a great deal of time restoring classic cars and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

John graduated from Westfield High School and attending Tusculum College, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in history.  After College, he married his wife Barbara Doerrer and the couple moved to Delhi to raise a family.

Having a diverse skill set and a stubborn determination, he worked hard to provide for his family, and felt great rewards from gardening, building, fixing things and spending time in the country with family and friends.  John enjoyed his pets and loved them like his own children.  He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up, as they brought him great joy and meaningful experiences in his life.

John is survived by two brothers: Jim and Charles Raba; his wife: Barbara Raba; children: Lauren and Eric Raba; and three wonderful grandchildren: Ysa Shaw, Rhys Shaw and Lincoln Raba.  John will be sorely missed by his family.

Per John’s wishes the will be no calling hours or funeral services.
