Obituary of Eleanore Susie Briggs Cowan

Eleanore Briggs Cowan , 93 years old, passed away on June 16, 2020 in Westminster Towers, winter Park Florida, where she retired. 

She is survived by her sister Dorothy Lois Briggs Keimig formerly Dorothy Briggs Harrington now residing with her son Allan E Harrington in Virginia and her nieces Schrene Whitmore of Auburn Ca, and Vanessa Riley of Hilton Head SC ., and nephews Allan Harrington of Virginia and Arthur Leigh Harrington South Carolina.  She also has 4 great nieces and 1 nephew,  Cousins Shirley Trask and Patty Travis with long time ties to the  Hobart Area.

Eleanore was a  High School graduate of South Kortright Central School and earned her  undergraduate degree from Ithaca College in PT.  She opened  her own Practice in Physical Therapy in Plattsburgh, NY.  She later went on to earn a Masters degree from  the Seminary of Immaculate conception, and also from Columbia University.  She taught High School English Honors classes in the Middle Country School District in Port Jefferson, Long Island,   Eleanore was honored as  visionary Leadership in establishing the File of Life program in Orange County, Florida,, she was a devoted volunteer at the Shrine in Kissimmee, Florida, a Member of the League of Women Voters and an active member of the University Women in Winter Park Florida. 

A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church , Orlando Florida on July 19 at 5 pm and locally at 10 AM on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Sacred Heart Roman Church in Stamford, burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart.
