Obituary of Julia Ann Bugge

Julia Ann “Nanny” Bugge, 72, of Delhi, a wonderful and beautiful woman left us to be with the Lord on August 22, 2018.

Born on March 31, 1946 in Bloomsburgh, PA, the daughter of Mary Jane and the late John Ternowski.

Julia married Herman Bugge on August 4th, 1966.

Mrs. Bugge worked for over 20 years as a corrections officer for Delaware Co. Sherriffs Dept in which she was the first female CO, Julia was known to be stern but understanding.  She also worked in other areas at the DCSO, including tending the Sherriff’s Station at the Delaware Co. Fair.

She was a member of the Sons of Norway, an avid bowler, Julia enjoyed bingo and number searches. She was also active in several civic organizations and was respected in the Delhi Community.  Her presents will be sorely missed. Julia’s greatest passion was her family, she was a loving mother and proud grandmother and great-grandmother

Besides her father, Julia was predeceased by her sisters: Helen K. Ternowski and Leta Mae Calhoun.

Julia is survived by her husband: Herman; mother: Mary Jane; children: Laura (Earl) Fressenden, Jill (James) Carmody, Julia (David) Cobane, Lillian “Sissy” (Scott) Moore, Herman “Skip” (Debra) Bugge and Chris (Amanda) Balisteri; siblings: Cathrine (Porky) Young, Jo-Ann Beavers, and John J. Ternowski; 15 grandchildren; 17great-grandchildren; several foster children, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.  

Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 1-4 PM on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Delhi Fire Dept., Delview Terrace Ext., where a celebration of life and time of sharing will follow at 4PM.

Contributions in memory of Julia may be made to the Delhi Fire Department or to the O’Connor Hospital Foundation.
