Obituary of June Fyffe Smith
June Fyffe Smith, 91, made peace with this world on Sunday, June 24th at her home in Mattydale in the company of her family and loved ones, as memories of her life were shared.
A mother to many and a friend to all, she was and will be remembered as someone who selflessly put the burdens and hearts of others before her own. A woman whose presence brightened any room. She was truly adored by all those who made her acquaintance. She had an exciting career as a nurse's assistant at O'Conner hospital where she met her husband, Jim Smith, in the town of Delhi, New York where she was born and raised. Together they spent nights out dancing with friends of which she had many, her spare time filled with helping others and watching John Wayne westerns.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Viola McMurdy; and a daughter-in-law Dina Warden-Fyffe.
She is survived by her husband, James W. Smith; and 11 children, Ronald Fyffe, Teresa Fyffe-Secreti, Thomas Fyffe (Vickie), Alan Fyffe (Kelly), Daniel Fyffe (Maureen), Rebecca Fyffe, Kathryn Fyffe-Ciaccia, Mark Fyffe (Dawn), James Fyffe (Sue), Elizabeth Fyffe-DeSocio, Christine Fyffe-Morgillo (Vincent); 28 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; step-children, James (Trisia), Richard, Victor (Marie), and Nance; six step-grandchildren.
