Obituary of Lawrence Natalie, Sr.
Lawrence J. “Larry” Natalie, Sr., 83, of Gilboa, formerly of Long Island, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Bassett Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 17, 1934 in Hempstead, Larry was the son of the late Louis and Margaret (McGowan) Natalie.
Mr. Natalie proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was married to Caroline “Carrie” (Wiedeman) Natalie. Larry and Carrie moved to Catskills and settled in Gilboa about 10 years ago.
Mr. Natalie was the owner and operator of VJ Auto Body in Islip, Long Island, for many years until his retirement.
Larry enjoyed the outdoors, he enjoyed working outside on his property and appreciated all that nature had to offer. He was a gifted mechanic and liked to work on cars, tractors and machinery. If something was broken Larry could always figure out a way to fix it.
Besides his parents, Larry was predeceased by two sisters: Anne Caffrey and Kitty Tinaro.
Mr. Natalie is survived by his wife: Carrie Natalie of Gilboa; six children: Laura (Mike) McKenna of Islip, Donna (Mark) Goldsmith of East Islip, Lisa Wherry of Islip, Lawrence (Jill) Natalie, Jr. of Brightwaters, Noelle (Brian) Kletchka of Stamford and Michael (Laurie) Natalie of Port Charlotte, FL; thirteen grandchildren: Joey, Caralee, Jason, Jeremy, Jake, Cody, Russell, Ryan, Katie, Shelby, Claire, Taylor and Michael; his brothers and sisters: Louis (Maureen) Natalie, William (Linda) Natalie, Margaret (Sal) Como and Peter (Margaret) Natalie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 5-8PM on Friday, May 4th, 2018 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 40 Cornell Ave., Hobart. A mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, May 5th at Sacred Heart Church, 27 Harper St., Stamford, with the Rev. Michael Cambi celebrating.
