Obituary of Elizabeth Sova
Elizabeth Hickox Sova, age 60, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on February 28, 2018.
Elizabeth was born on May 21, 1957 in Quantico, Virginia. The oldest of four children, Elizabeth was raised in Rockland County, New York and Jamesville, New York. After attending Antioch College and New York University, Elizabeth settled in Manhattan and worked as a costume designer in the film and television industry, which provided an outlet for her creativity and love of the arts. It was through this work that Elizabeth met and later married Milan Sova. Their son, Milan Joseph Sova, who was born in 1988, became her focus of pride and joy. For the past 25 years, the Sovas have lived in South Kortright, New York. She most recently worked at SUNY Delhi University as Director of the O’Connor Center for Community Engagement. Through promoting service learning, Elizabeth was able to pass along to students her passion for making the world a better place and helping those in need. Elizabeth was open-minded, curious, and abundantly enthusiastic about a wide range of interests, including travel, cooking, music, and many others. Her warmth, sense of humor, and loyalty were treasured by all whose lives she touched. Elizabeth is survived by her husband Milan, her son Milan Joseph, her sisters Jennifer and Lin, her brother Rick, and her mother, Trudy, among many others who loved her dearly. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the O’Connor Center for Community Engagement at SUNY Delhi.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 3-6PM on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 134 Main St., Delhi. Private interment will be held at the convenience of family and close friends.
