Obituary of Charlotte Roth Kathmann

Charlotte Roth Kathmann, 84, of Delhi, passed away at home early Sunday morning, December 17, 2017, surrounded by her family.

Born in Sea Cliff, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Charlotte (Waite) Roth.

Charlotte was a 1951 graduate of Delaware Academy.

Mrs. Kathmann was married to Henry C. “Heinz” Kathmann on June 5, 1954, a union that lasted over 49 years until Heinz passed away on August 13, 2003.

In her earlier years Charlotte was employed by the Delaware County Highway Department, then leaving there to raise her family and assist Heinz with the operation of their dairy farm on Upper Elk Creek.  In the late 1970’s Charlotte went to work in the Medical Records Dept. of O’Connor Hospital, a job she enjoyed for over 20 years.

Following her retirement, she and Heinz enjoyed traveling in their RV and spending winters in Florida. Charlotte was an active and devoted member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was church organist and was active as a Sunday School teacher, Choir Director and the Ladies Group.

Charlotte enjoyed gardening, berry picking and was a talented painter.  She enjoyed the companionship of her feline friends, especially Shadow. 

She is survived by her children: Debra Anderson of Delhi, Robert (Jackie Galietta) Kathmann of Delhi, Carol (William) Parker of Jefferson, Susan Kathmann of Rochester, Joanne (Sherman) McAlpin of Bowie, MD and Donna (Edward) Roche of Delhi; grandchildren: Wendy, Denita, Cristal, Ashley, Kelly, Eric, Sasha, Nigell, Caitlin, Kyla and Collin; several great-grandchildren; brother: John (Barbara) Roth of Mississippi; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband, Charlotte was predeceased by a son-in-law: Wayne Anderson.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 3-7PM on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, 134 Main St., Delhi.  A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, December 29th at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Delhi.
