Obituary of Elsa Gedde

Elsa Gedde, 99 of Hobart, died on Tuesday, Mar. 1, 2017 at home in Hobart. Mrs. Gedde was born in Brooklyn and raised in Norway after the death of her mother in 1918. She later returned to New York, married Johan H. Gedde (dec.May 21,2012) on Mar. 1, 1944 and they ran the Land's End Marina & Motel in Sayville, NY with Mr. Gedde's brother, Ernest Thorvaldsen. In 1983 Johan and Elsa retired and moved to the Hobart area. They were active in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, the local senior citizens group and the Sons of Norway. She is survived by their son, John H. Gedde Jr., grandchildren, John Michael Gedde(Jennifer) and Christine Ann Bailey(Nicholas) and 5 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 126 State Route 10, Stamford.
